“During the press conference of the upcoming Stripdagen Haarlem comix festival today, Thursday April 17, the VPRO Debut Prize 2008 was awarded to Randall.C for his book ‘Slaapkoppen’ [Sleepy heads’]:
Suppose you are dreaming that you are falling asleep. And then you dream. That you are falling asleep and then yet again you are dreaming. This ad infinitum fantasy is the basis of ‘Slaapkoppen’, Randall Casaer’s debut comix, which in the final months of 2007 gripped the hearts of his readers. ‘Slaapkoppen’ [‘Sleepy heads’] is a highly original and funny juggling comix game of clouds and words, dream and reality, poetry and humour, philosophy and absurdity. Ik ben blij dat er na de Blikken Biebel een prijs is bijgekomen waar je meiden mee kan versieren. Goed zo!
Gefeliciteerd. Die beker lijkt énorm. Zat er ook geld in? Tot de rand gevuld? Zodat, als je de beker optilt om hem triomfantelijk in de lucht te steken voor de spiegel, er af en toe een bankbiljetje naar beneden dwarrelt om dat dan achteloos op de grond te laten liggen, want pfeuh…er zitten er toch genoeg in , niewaar?
